Questions

Do I need a permit for a fence in Huntsville?

According to the City's FAQ, fences inside city limits do not need a building permit, except that Historic District properties need HPC approval. Zoning, corner-visibility, floodplain and HOA rules can still apply.

Can I use barbed wire on a residential lot?

No. The City's fence ordinance prohibits barbed, razor and electric fencing on residentially zoned lots.

Who marks underground utilities?

Alabama 811. A contractor should request locates before digging post holes.

Are you the contractor?

No. Huntsville Fencing Pros is an independent referral/matching service. Independent local businesses quote and perform the work, and we may be paid for introductions.

Is there a cost to request quotes?

No cost to homeowners for an introduction. Any contractor price is between you and that contractor.
