Local rules
The City of Huntsville states that fences do not require a building permit; fences in the Huntsville Historic District need Historic Preservation Commission approval, corner lots have sight-visibility limits, and pool enclosures must meet city pool-barrier rules. Properties outside city limits follow county rules. Call Alabama 811 before digging post holes.
